I am 30, single, a med tech, and a graduate student. I feel that I'm generally a very good saver and a so-so budgeter. Hopefully, I'll be able to work on the later.

My personal finance strategy is in order of priority:

1. Contribute maximum to Roth IRA.

2. Contribute 20% of gross income to 457(b).

3. Build savings to 6 months' income.

4. Pay off credit cards in full each month.

5. Pay off car and graduate school loans.

New car

I picked up my new car yesterday. I love it. It's a white 2008 Toyota Corolla LE. I did the internet pricing so got a price below invoice price after the incentive. Yes, I know all about used vs. new cars and depreciation. I'm satisfied with the decision that I've made.

Two people have come by to look at my 1997 Toyota Corolla. I think I have a buyer. I'm settling for $2,000 but I feel good about the potential buyer. She really desperately needs a car. Violet, that's my car, is looking especially nice. I vacuumed her all out and got her washed. I almost hate to sell her.

Congrats on the new car! DS's Corolla has over 100,000 miles and still gets over 35 miles per gallon. Those cars keep going and going and going....

Congrats on the new car, I bought a 2001 Camry about three months ago and I love it. You will definately sell the car I sold my '89 camry

We just got a new 2008 yellow corvette. Her name is Lucy, after our dog that passed in June.
