Raise

September 15th, 2012 at 03:03 pm

I got a somewhat unexpected raise this paycheck. I knew it was coming, I just didn't expect it quite this early. I was very happy to see it. I've been very blessed financially. Also, I'm hoping that my student loan payments by my employer gets sorted out soon. It's been 9 months of back & forth trying to get the paperwork fixed. It is ridiculous that it's taken this long, but I'm grateful for the payments still being made in the meantime.

The stock market has been doing really well lately. I can't believe it's almost time - again - to reassess my finance goals for the year. Where has this year gone?

Congrats on the raise! Are you saying that your employer takes care of your student loans? That would lead to a huge savings, how did you work that out with them? I have read that some industries do often have that as a benefit, along with insurance and retirement, that the employer will pay a portion of the employee's student loans...
The markets definitely went up recently, but I am not completely sold on the viability of the reasons behind it.
    Have a great week!

Yes, I'm getting a small amount paid on my loan. It is in addition to my monthly payment, as my employer sends the payment directly to Sallie Mae. It's not a big amount, but every little bit helps me pay off my loan that much sooner. It's a federal program for federal employees, and it depends on the budget of the local agency office.
