Personal Goals in 2011

December 21st, 2010 at 02:31 am

I'd love to have a personal goal besides my annual New Year's resolution to lose weight. I still need to lose weight, but I'd like to accomplish something else as well.

In January I'm starting my orientation to become a CASA volunteer. I'd like to give back more. I just hope that my work doesn't conflict with being able to make court dates and such.

A better relationship with God is always a desire. Maybe I can do some more Bible study. I'm always impressed with people that know the Bible well. I remember some stories from Sunday school, but I get embarrassed sometimes with how little I know.

I will have to think more on my personal goals.

Nice goals! Don't worry about those who know the Bible well. Yesterday I was surprised to see that none of my children knew what Naomi (mother-in-law to Ruth) changed her name to. DH didn't know either. But my 3rd grader proudly chimed in that he DID know the Apostle's Creed. I'd suggest a 365-Day Bible, with brief readings from both the Old and New Testament as a starter. Happy New Year!

We have a great little children's Bible that we read to our daughter nightly, and it leads to her doing great in her Sunday School class. It also has wonderful side historical information that is great for Mom and Dad, as well, so we have insurance that we can learn something as well.

I'm thinking about being a CASA volunteer myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a little daily woman's bible which has bible verses to go with different situations and emotions you encounter in life. I haven't been too good about reading it. I will endeavor to read it more consistently next year.
