Second Vaccine Dose

January 11th, 2021 at 03:31 pm

I got my second COVID-19 dose on Saturday. I felt fine all day, but still spent most of the day at home. Sunday I woke up in that "sick fog". I was scheduled to work 6-6 so I went in knowing that I wasn't truly coming down with anything, but that the vaccine was just doing its job. It was a struggle for the first half of the shift, but I made it through. I was in bed by 7 & woke up feeling fine today. So besides that & pain at the injection site, that was the worst of my symptoms. My body feeling like it was fighting something let's me know that the vaccine is working. In about 2 weeks my body will have developed the full response it takes to fight the virus. I wasn't very happy with the situation at the vaccine clinic the second time. It was much busier, impossible to socially distance. I understand, however, that we really need to increase the number of people that we are vaccinating tog et out of this pandemic situation.

I had an EBay sale yesterday. The seller accepted my counter offer so that's my first sale for 2021! I will mail it off on my lunch break or after work. I'm always happy to make a sale no matter how small.

Thank you for the vaccine update. It helps to hear positive feedback! It will most likely be a while before I can receive it, but I will as soon as it is available to me. Congrats on the sale. Stuff out, and money in, is always a good thing!

Were you the worse symptons you've heard of? I've heard that people over 65 only have 50% immunity with the single shot. They don't get like 85% immunity until 2nd shot.

I haven’t heard of any serious side effects from anyone who has taken the vaccine. Just basically the signs & symptoms that your body is doing what it’s supposed to. It’s important to get both shots, one shot will give you some protection, but not get us to where we need to be.

The flu shot put me down for about ten days to two weeks. Probably because I have an overactive immune system due to autoimmune issues. I have a feeling the Covid vaccine will be the same. Hopefully not. Do you know of anyone who has taken it who has autoimmune diseases? Thanks for the update.

That's wonderful. Our local health department claimed to have some for folks 65 and older and I spent yesterday on the phone trying to get an appointment for DH. I don't know how many doses they had, but no go.

No, I do not know of anyone with an autoimmune disease that has taken the vaccine.

Wow, you're the first I know to get it. Hopefully by now you're feeling fine.

I got my 2nd dose on 1/8. My arm was sore, though not as sore as after the 1st dose. It was also somewhat swollen, which didn't happen before. Other than that, I felt fine. I took Tylenol and did take a little nap the following afternoon, but had I needed to, I could have pushed through it.

I certainly hope we can now start better organizing the whole vaccination process and get lots more people vaccinated soon. My mom has an appointment on Saturday. My wife is scheduled in February.
