PayDay Review

August 8th, 2020 at 04:14 pm

Yesterday was pay day. I got paid from 2 of my jobs. My third job pays semi-monthly so on the 1st & 15th. This month the 1st was a Saturday so I got paid on the 31st, which was a nice surprise.

My car payment is automatically deducted on paydays. I now owe less than $2k on my car. I also schedule credit card payments at least every other week. My credit cards are now down to $10k as I mentioned in my last blog post.

My IRA deduction will go out next Friday. It is scheduled for the 15th of every month, but the 15th falls on a Saturday this month. At one time I was sending the full year’s contribution on January 1st. I hope to get back to that in 2022 when I’m debt free except for my mortgage. My auto & homeowners insurance as well as my utilities are also due on the 15th. My mortgage is paid biweekly the Wednesday after my two paydays.

Net Worth: $959, 901

Wow, three is a lot of jobs. How many hours per week do you work at each?

Hours at the newest job are hit & miss. When I started it was supposed to be M-F 6-11 p.m. & I was working every bit of those hours. Once the demand for COVID testing ramped up we now only receive an allocation of kits once a week due to high demand. So I go in once a week & run 2-3 batches which takes me anywhere from 6-11 or even 1-2 in the morning. At the hospital job I’m just working every Sunday right now, 8 hour shifts. Sometimes I work 12 hour shifts, which they prefer for me to do. At the hospital job I give them the days that I’m available. I have been taking off every Monday at my full-time job, but that’s because I have an employee going out on maternity leave at the end of this month & I’m trying to use up my use or lose leave. I won’t use up all of it, but I’ll be at about 40 hours left by the end of the month. Hopefully, I can use the rest in December once she comes back, if she comes back on time. You never know what could happen. She’s supposed to come back the week of Thanksgiving. If I were her I might wait until after the holidays to return.
