Ready for this election to be over

October 28th, 2022 at 06:55 am

Roughly 10 days out from the November election & it can't come soon enough.

There's a certain very popular radio personality that I l just got back to listening to in the past couple of years. I had stopped listening to him over a decade ago because I got tired of his political rants. Well with the upcoming election he can't seem to stop making comments about politics. I think I'll take a break from the show until the election is over.

One of my pet peeves in life is people who think that everyone wants to hear their political opinions all the time. I listen to him for financial advice, though I certainly don't always agree with his. It's probably  more like 50-50 with this particular money guru, but I still enjoy the discussions. What I'm not interested in is hearing his political opinions.

Just vote how you want to & be quiet. I'm pretty well set on my political leanings & I only discuss politics in certain venues. Other than alluding to having some strong feelings after the 2016 election I try not to discuss politics here.

I am in a TSP group & the administrators are militant about no political posts. I love it. If there's even a hint of politics in a post it gets taken down. There's a certain group of people that get mad, but I think it keeps the focus on the group's real intent.

Without commenting on my political preferences, I think it is interesting that you think financial advice is separate from political position.
To me, they are deeply linked.

I agree and I am looking forward to the election being behind us as well. If people want to discuss politics, there are appropriate places to do that. It doesn't need to be taken everywhere.

    What is TSP?

I guess I've been living under a rock. I haven't heard any political chatter recently. Phew!

Petunia, the TSP is the federal government’s version of a 401k, the Thrift Savings Plan

    Lots of ideas,

Financial advice to me is almost entirely a numbers game. “Based on current tax policy doing X opposed to Y will be better for you in the long run.” Now I may have opinions on those policies, but that’s not the question at hand. When it comes to financial advice the question isn’t what the policy should be, it’s what is the best move for me to make with the policies we have today. And that’s the difference. I’m not here to get opinions on how I should vote or what laws they should be making in Washington. That’s not advice, that’s advocacy.

I am very tired of the political adds. My fiancée and I are sometimes on opposite sides. C

Amen, Terri, Amen! I'm sick of the ads, especially the nasty ones who run the other person down so hatefully. Like you, I believe one's vote is one's own and chances are haranguing me with these ads or political posts is getting very tiring.

I live in Illinois and I don't know why, but somehow a group in Wisconsin has gotten my cell phone number and text me a couple times a day telling me who I should vote for. I have done the "stop to opt out", replied and said I don't live in Wisconsin so quit sending me this stuff, and to no avail, I continue to get them. I just block the number and delete it now because they aren't paying attention to anything I'm sending them.
