Sick Days

March 6th, 2020 at 01:59 pm

I am home sick, yesterday & today. Doctor says it’s allergies, but I feel whipped. Cough, chilly, achy, low energy. And now a runny nose I guess from the cough medicine breaking up the congestion. He gave me a steroid shot, prescribed cough medicine, and gave me a chest x-ray because I didn’t like the way my breathing sounded. After he examined me he sent me out to the waiting area with a mask. That got me a lot of wary looks. 😷

I hope you feel better soon! Pollen is way high right now. I can see it on the cars. You might find some local honey to take daily to help keep the allergy symptoms down. Lots of people I know swear by this. Many farmers markets and even some independent pharmacies carry local honey.

I was thinking of getting some tea & honey, but forgot. It took all my energy to get dressed to pick up my cough medicine yesterday. I have no appetite, but tea & honey sounds really good. ☕️ 🍯

Did the doctor discuss testing for coronavirus? Sounds like the exact symptoms to me.

CB, there are very strict protocols by the CDC for even testing anyone for the virus in the first place. These symptoms also sound like any flu or respiratory illness. Flu is going around widely in many places. Terri would have had to recently traveled from China or had contact with a known person who contracted the virus. The odds are very low this is what she has.

No, he did not discuss testing for Coronavirus. He was confident that my symptoms were post-nasal drip due to allergies. I am feeling much better already. I am weighing my travel for next week, however. It does not look like the event that I’m traveling for will be canceled so it would be at my own cost. Still it’s something to consider. My mom is not in the best health.

Allergies are horrible. I remember growing up with them; seemed like I always had a cold because my parents would not take me to the doctor to see if I had them. Do you take an allergy medicine every day? I celebrate the day I went to an allergist, had the tests, and he put me on a prescription medicine to get me started. He also gave me reading material about making my house as allergy free as possible. He said the bedroom should be the safe zone. I was teary giving up my down pillow, but years later, I'm so glad I followed as much advice as I could.

    Glad you are feeling better.

I’ve never had issues with allergies so this is all new to me. I may get tested in the future.

Forsythia, flowering cherries, and dogwoods are all blooming right now where I live. Not to mention crocus and daffodils. Hyacinths and tulips won't be far behind. It's a rough time of year for those of us with allergies.
