COVID-19 Pt. 3

I worked a 12 hour shift at the hospital today. 🏥 Every time I work there seems to be another added layer of protection. In the lobby they stop all employees. 🛑 We have our temperature taken & are given a mask to wear. 😷 🌡 They also give us a meal ticket for the cafeteria. 🎫

My event tickets for my canceled trip to Montreal will be defunded. 🇨🇦 That should be about $1k. Also, I bought trip insurance for my flight so that will be refunded. ✈️ I plan on putting the money toward my debt. I bought insurance for my trip to Switzerland, we’ll see how much it actually covers if Switzerland is still closed to travel. 🇨🇭

    Thank you for your hard work caring for the ill. Are you seeing a lot more patients confirmed with the virus? I keep hearing conflicting reports from health care workers in various areas. Some ER nurses said they saw these same symptoms back in December.

    It's an interesting blessing these cancellations and refunds. And now stimulus money.

    At my full-time workplace about 2/3 of samples are testing positive, but we have high criteria to qualify for a test. Other facilities the percentage of positives are lower. I will say that in health care what often drives up costs is people using the ER for conditions that could wait or be seen at urgent care. COVID-19 finally has people not using the ER for things that aren’t truly emergencies. ER visits are way down because ppl are scared to be exposed.

    I read an article this week about this mild flu condition that was occurring in New Orleans, but patients kept testing negative for the flu. It has been here for a while it seems.

    Thanks for your perspective. I have heard from DisneySteve that urgent care visits are down.
