American Airlines credit card ✈️ 💳

March 5th, 2023 at 11:55 pm

I opened an American Airlines credit card last year. I've done so before, but then ended up closing it once I was charged the annual membership fee after a year. I called this evening with the intention of closing the card again, but then thought about possibly traveling with my parents this summer. The benefits of not being charged for luggage both ways for 3 people outweighs the $99 annual membership fee cost. So I think I'll hold on to the card a little longer. Do any of you take advantage of an airline travel card?

I don’t use an airline credit card; however, I do use points through the airline point system, and it helps a lot.

I have two alaska airlines cards for me and my husband $95/year now just so we can get a free companion ticket $121 for a companion fare. We used it last year to buy a $2000 ticket to cancun for $121. I would say that is a huge benefit. So yes we are paying $95 for this companion ticket. I don't charge anything but alaska airline tickets on it. So I don't really accrue miles but the companion fare alone is worth it. We also get free luggage, but we don't use it much. DH also has status so he gets free luggage. But the credit card is worth it in our eyes.
