I’m building a house!

Exciting news! Yesterday I signed a purchase agreement to build a new home. I'm very excited & looking forward to the process. It's a bit overwhelming considering all the choices that I'll have to make, but it's exactly what I hoped for so I'm fortunate to have this opportunity. I can't wait to share the updates & progress as I embark on this journey. Stay tuned!

    Is it a custom home or just buying from a builder? We bought our current home new construction and are too spoiled. Of course, when we bought this home it was a far better deal than resale. But I'd like to just build new again. Our utilities are nothing (very energy efficient) and home maintenance expense has been pennies. We bought this house in 2001. & with the small builders, there's room to customize small things. My employer is open to moving walls, which I didn't even think of to ask.

    Ideally I'd like to just buy from my home builder employer (at a discount) but I don't know if we want to settle here or if they will have the home I want. They aren't building anything I am interested in right now (re: location or size.) & they only build locally. Not sure where we will end up.

    It’s not a custom home. They have set floor plans and don’t make changes. I will be able to make some small changes with upgrades, like cabinets to the ceiling in the kitchen. I didn’t opt for the tiled showers which is a very popular, but expensive upgrade. The money I will save there will pay for all of the many other upgrades I’d like.

    Congrats...would never do that in our state in aust as it would take around 2 years plus to build it...that ios far to long for us...and it will be what you want which is even better focus on the kitchen and bathrooms as if you ever want to sell they will be the main point s people will look for

    They say it is 6 months build time. So I hope to be in my home in October, before the holidays.
